You know the story. You are setting up a social media account, and the time has come for you to create a beautiful profile picture! You have done the photo shoot, got the photographer to take a shot of your best side, and have the most amazing photograph of your face the world will ever have seen! However, there is a problem. It won’t fit. Like OJ’s gloves, the image just refuses to fit into its rightful place at the helm of your brand new social media page. Why is this? Well, the answer is simple… You didn’t read this post first!
Here is my list of the best social media image pixel sizes for 2019, which will get your images fitting perfectly, like Cinderella’s shoe. I’ve even thrown in a handy graphic for you at no extra cost! I know, I treat you well…
First up, we have Facebook. As lifewire.com states, ‘Facebook pages and ads can be invaluable marketing tools’, and as such should be used to their best potential. However, all of this is at risk of going out of the window if the visitor isn’t immediately drawn to your site. This is why your profile picture, cover photo, and post photos all need to be the correct size!
Here is my list of the best pixel sizes for Facebook images:
- Facebook Profile Picture – 168 x 168
- Facebook Cover Photo – 851 x 315
- Facebook Post Images –
- Square – 492 x 492
- Portrait – 492 x 738
- Landscape – 492 x 276
Next, we have Twitter. A wonderful tool for growing your audience and spreading your knowledge and insights as a business professional or just an armchair Tweeter (looking at you, Mr Trump), Twitter is an exceptional site for quick and responsive engagement. In their article on the benefits of using Twitter, Smart Bird Social sums it up perfectly when they say that ‘Twitter is where conversations are taking place’. It is indeed, and therefore you don’t want your conversations to be marred by the painful memories of a profile picture two sizes too small. It didn’t work for the Grinch’s heart, it won’t work for you, so check out my sizing guide below!
- Twitter Profile Picture – 400 x 400
- Twitter Cover Photo – 1500 x 500
- Twitter Post Image – 1024 x 512
Our next social media site is the image-sharing phenomenon, Instagram. I won’t ramble on too long for this one, as it goes without saying that a site based on good images needs, well, good images. Check out my sizing guide below!
- Instagram Profile Picture – 110 x 110
- Instagram Post Image –
- Square – 1080 x 1080
- Portrait – 1080 x 1350
- Landscape – 1080 x 566
Linkedin, the social media site for professionals. It is essentially full of business people who will base their potential connections with you on the quality of the content you share, and your profile. As Max Marketing states, Linkedin is ‘your opportunity to promote yourself for what you are good at and want to be known for’, so you want it to look as good as possible.
Here is my pixel size guide for Linkedin:
- Linkedin Profile Picture – Anything from 400 x 400
- Linkedin Cover Photo – 1584 x 396
Finally, we have WordPress. WordPress is the most popular blog hosting site, and is actually what I’m using to host this site! It is exceptionally useful for digital marketing and online advertising, and creating & perfecting a good blog through their hosting platform can be extremely useful for any business dealing in social media marketing or digital advertising.
- WordPress Featured Image – 1024 x 800
